Since the theme of my photography has been centered around technical theatre production, I knew I wanted to reference that work in my book though I couldn't see any way of doing so without cutting all my photos into the shape of a lighting instrument. However, while working on a show I discovered an interesting lighting accessory called the I-Pro. This device combined the functionality of gobos (pieces of glass or metal cut out in a way that allows an image to be displayed within the beam of light) with that of gels (colored plastic that cancels out all rays of light except for those present in the type of color the gel is). While I couldn't get my hands on an I-Pro, I did find that I could get my hands on the film that the I-Pro cools (ensuring that the lighting equipment doesn't melt it) - transparency film. My book will be comprised of photographs printed onto this transparency film so that, when the photographs are mounted in front of a light source they will display the image onto a surface. In order to allow each photo to fit into the mount in front of the light, they will be connected to each other by a detachable o-ring. Below are images of transparency film, the specific lighting instrument that will be used to present the photos, and the desired effect.
